Network Security Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008 at 1:36 am

Krissy told me about a job at her aunt’s job where it starts at $75,000 and the only requirement is that you have a Cisco certification. To me that sounds like a lot of money and I would take it in an instant, if I had that certification. The sad part is that even though I would take it no one else wants it. The starting pay is pretty low for that certification.

Hearing that makes me want to just get my Cisco Certificate and then take a job like that. I know about basic network security, so having a certificate doesn’t seem like that much of a stretch. Now I wish I would have just went and got some certifications instead of going to college and dropping out. Oh ell, I know one day I will both graduate college and have all the degrees I want. It will just take some time.

I am actually kind of surprised that Cisco certifications pay so much, I thought that A+ paid more, but I guess since you are dealing with security with Cisco that could be the clencher on why it pays more. I don’t think it costs much more to get though, so the turn around as far as money paid to salary paid is better. I guess it has to be when you want people to secure the entire network a business revolves around, otherwise people might mess around and pretend to know what they are doing and then get fired, but by paying more they are securing a competent individual to be behind your network.
